QA Analyst

Chennai, India / Coimbatore, India

Role Summary

As a QA Analyst, you will join our Quality Assurance team as a fresher, building a strong foundation in software testing while supporting quality assurance activities for enterprise web applications delivered to global customers. This role offers structured training and close mentorship, giving you hands-on exposure to manual testing fundamentals across the testing lifecycle, with growing exposure to test automation as you progress.

You will start by learning the fundamentals of software testing concepts, processes, and tools used on live projects, gradually taking on more independent testing responsibilities as you grow in confidence and capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn the fundamentals of software testing, including SDLC, STLC, and the bug life cycle, under the guidance of senior QA engineers.
  • Assist in creating, maintaining, and executing test cases and test plans for assigned features.
  • Support functional, regression, exploratory, smoke, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) across web applications.
  • Learn to identify, record, and track defects using bug-tracking tools such as Jira.
  • Learn to write and execute basic SQL queries, and assist with data validation and reconciliation activities.
  • Build working familiarity with core QA tools such as Jira, Postman, and Chrome Dev Tools.
  • Follow guidance on estimating effort for assigned testing tasks, and work towards completing them on time and with good quality, minimizing rework.
  • Build an understanding of the project scope and how the assigned testing work supports the client's business process.
  • Identify risks or blockers in your own work early, and escalate promptly to the right team member.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with team members and, where applicable, clients — including proactive status updates on testing progress.
  • Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives as part of an Agile/Scrum team.
  • Maintain basic test documentation and defect reports for the tasks you work on.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, training programs, and certifications as part of your learning path.
  • Collaborate with developers, functional consultants, and QA team members as part of project delivery.

Eligibility

  • BE / B.Tech / ME / M.Tech / MCA / BCA graduates (freshers, 0–1 year of experience) from Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related disciplines.
  • Consistent academic performance with a strong interest in software quality, testing, and problem-solving.

Desired Technical Skills

Candidates should have a basic, foundational understanding of:

  • Core software testing concepts — SDLC, STLC, and the bug life cycle.
  • Different testing levels, methods, and types (functional, regression, smoke, exploratory, UAT).
  • SQL and relational database fundamentals for data validation.
  • Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and how APIs work.
  • Willingness to learn QA tools such as Jira, Postman, and Chrome Dev Tools as part of daily workflow.

Prior hands-on project, internship, or academic experience with any of these is a plus, but not required — training will be provided.

Additional Skills (Good to Have)

Exposure to any of the following is an added advantage, though not expected at entry level:

  • Awareness of version control concepts (e.g., Git) and basic Git workflow (clone, pull, commit, push).
  • Exposure to automation tools/frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
  • Basic awareness of enterprise integration or backend tools such as webMethods, FastAPI, NGINX, or Docker.
  • Basic awareness of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Basic knowledge of performance or accessibility testing.
  • ISTQB certification.

Desired Competencies

  • Timeliness and effectiveness in completing assigned testing tasks, with minimal rework.
  • Demonstrates growing understanding of project scope and how the solution being tested supports the client's business process.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking with good problem-solving ability.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including proactive status updates to leads.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies and tools.
  • Teamwork and willingness to collaborate with others.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ownership and accountability for assigned work, including early identification and escalation of risks.
