Oracle-to-SAP Data Transition for o9 Demand Planning
A parallel SAP S/4HANA-to-o9 and Oracle-AWS-o9 integration architecture that supported an ERP transition from Oracle to SAP S/4HANA for the EMEA region, while preserving existing integrations for other regions and keeping the live o9 Demand Planning solution running without interruption.
The Challenge
As part of a region-wise ERP transition, the client was migrating from Oracle ERP to SAP S/4HANA for the EMEA region. This required transitioning the o9 Demand Planning solution to SAP S/4HANA as the data source for EMEA, while retaining Oracle as the source for all other regions. The SAP data introduced differences in item attributes, item mappings, and sales-domain codes, and given the client's medical devices and equipment business, preserving planning-process integrity was critical, particularly for managing emergency demand. The coexistence of region-specific data sources made data integrity, cross-system validation, and regression testing key requirements to ensure a seamless ERP transition without impacting the live o9 planning solution.
Our Approach

Build parallel integration architecture
Redesigned the existing Oracle-AWS-o9 integration layer to support a parallel, scalable SAP S/4HANA-o9 pipeline for EMEA, with an architecture that can be extended to other regions for future ERP transitions.

Align SAP and Oracle data
Built an intermediate data integration layer with standardized transformations to align SAP and Oracle master and transactional data, minimizing and streamlining inbound file interfaces to o9.

Update master data & downstream processes
Remapped item attributes and sales-domain codes to the SAP structure and reconfigured downstream planning processes, while preserving data and process integrity across Oracle-supported regions.

Validate, test, and cut over
Designed a robust validation process to address data inconsistencies and hierarchy issues, backed by end-to-end regression testing of the Demand Planning process, ensuring minimal risk and a smooth cutover.

Successful migration of o9 demand planning & business continuity
The EMEA planning process was successfully moved to receive data from SAP S/4HANA while keeping the existing o9 Demand Planning implementation stable.
