Leading Canadian Retailer
Finer-grained allocation and replenishment controls, sharper demand-driven recommendations, and full inventory visibility for a leading Canadian retailer's nationwide store network on o9.
The Challenge
Planners could only control allocation and replenishment at the overall store level, without the precision to fine-tune by category or product type. Recommendations tended to look similar across stores, even where demand differed. Selecting stores for allocation was manual and time-intensive, sometimes leading inventory to build up in certain locations while others could have used more. Planners also lacked a consolidated view of available and in-pipeline inventory at the point of decision-making. These factors together made efficient stock distribution harder, occasionally missed opportunities to meet demand, and added manual effort to keep operations on track.
Our Approach
- 01
Give planners precise control
Gave planners finer control over allocation and replenishment down to the product and store level, instead of managing decisions at the overall store level.
- 02
Sharpen demand-driven recommendations
Delivered more accurate, demand-driven recommendations that reflect real intent variation across stores, replacing output that looked similar everywhere.
- 03
Speed up store selection
Made store selection for allocation smarter and faster, replacing a manual, time-intensive process.
- 04
Distribute excess inventory fairly
Built in fairer distribution of excess inventory across the network, so stock stopped building up in some locations while others ran short.
- 05
Unify inventory visibility
Gave planners complete visibility into available and in-pipeline inventory positions at the point of decision-making.
The Results
No more blunt over-allocation
Planners can throttle allocation and replenishment at a precise product/store level instead of shutting down entire locations, eliminating unnecessary over-allocation.
Demand-accurate recommendations
Allocation output now responds to true intent variation, producing more differentiated, demand-accurate recommendations across stores.
One-screen inventory visibility
Full visibility into on-hand, in-transit, on-order, and opposite-DC inventory positions gives planners the context needed to make better-informed decisions in a single screen.
